Lower Ferry, Kingswear & Day Mark Loop
Medium walk, hilly in places but stunning views, sadly no pub but perfect picnic spots ? 4 miles, approx 1? hours.
Take Lower Ferry cross over and follow sign posts for coastal walk. Climb down all the stairs to little creek and castle ruin, and perhaps stop for a stare and first picnic of the day, before you climb steep timber stairs into the woods and catch your breath! Worst bit over! The path then weaves into tranquil pine forests and along the coastal path until eventually you come to Newfoundland Bay, on your right, well worth a picnic on the bench looking down at bay. Porpoise have been spotted here! Carry on following path to headland and pillboxes, here you have a choice you can carry on path for 8miles via Coleton Fishacre and you will end up in Brixham, or alternatively stop and watch the world go by on the rocks. Turn left inland towards Day Mark (early mobile phone! which is actually an ancient communication tower) and follow path down around the Browns Farm (sadly, no relative) and back down the old stream and up the road which takes you back to the path for the Lower Ferry.
