Higher Ferry to Lower Ferry
Easy walk and good for kids ? approx 40 mins. Hidden carved chairs in woods! Two pubs if you want.
Starting from the Floating Bridge pub, a pint on the relaxing sun deck you take the Higher Ferry (pedestrians 50p to Kingswear). On the other side follow the lane and on the right there is a path behind the loos, always useful with kids, go up into the woods and at the top go right and follow the path through the woods all the way. Can you find the carved chairs? There is a gate at the end of the woods, go through and shortly afterwards there will be a signpost on the right, climb back down and then you cross the railway track, watch out for Thomas the Tank Engine! Then, you can either go left through boat yard and catch the Lower Ferry back ? pedestrians 50p ? where opposite is The Dartmouth Arms, an ideal place to drink in the views and the kids can go crabbing in Bayards Cove. Alternatively go right on the path alongside the river and steam train track, back to the Higher Ferry.
