Warfleet Creek into Gallants Bower

Uphill first, but views of town and out to sea well worth it, in late April it is a complete blanket of bluebells ? approx 40 mins or 2 hours if you stop to stare and have a picnic at the top.

From Warfleet Creek walk straight ahead past Dartmouth Pottery building and turn into the little footpath where you will climb uphill through the woods following the path, slightly painful but it is worth it. Soak up the views across to the Naval College and follow the path to the top of the hill, in Spring the bluebells and primroses create a virtual blanket for you to picnic on. The mound of Gallants Bower is steeped in history, and the views upriver are amazing, reaching all the way to Old Mill Creek and then out to sea. You can watch the myriad of boats coming and going. Two options down - if you go left through the gate and follow the path down to the right you will zig zag down back to the Castle; if you go right you will go through the woods and end up on the road above the Castle.
